There are a bunch of technicalities to the models that get imported.
Importing is easy, but making the model come out as expected requires a bit of extra knowledge.
To import:
.glb files are model files with bones integrated in them. Good if you want to create something that will have movement, like a tail.
You can find either .obj or .glb files in the lower right of the new window that opens when importing a model.
Most common mistake when creating a part is not centering the model in your third party app.
The model will consider its exported position as part of its design.
Simply position your model to its world origin.
It will also make future use of the model easier, as well as allow others to use it without confusions.
This is especially important for Appendage Group use.
After making a model, and then unwrapping its faces you may come across the issue of certain bits in the model are darker than usual.
To fix this, you must recalculate your normals of the model.
This should fix it next time you export and import into fvne.
